Cos'è?
Flashpoint è una serie televisiva Canadese che ha raggiunto una notevole popolarita' sia negli Stati Uniti che nel resto del mondo. Trasmessa dal 2008 su CTV (Canada) e CBS, dall'autunno 2011 è passata su Ion TV (Usa), in Italia è giunta nel 2009 su Axn, poi su Rai3 e successivamente, nel 2011, su Rai4.
Inizialmente fu presentato alla CTV come un Film della durata di due ore circa, con il titolo 'Sniper' o 'Critical Incident', ma poi divenne un episodio pilota per la futura serie drammatica poliziesca 'Flashpoint'.
Ambientata a Toronto, descrive il lavoro ad alto rischio svolto dai membri del Team One dell'SRU, una squarda d'elite della polizia Canadese, ma anche dei loro sacrifici, delle passioni e dei problemi personali che ognuno di loro si troverà ad affrontare.
SRU è l'abbreviazione di Strategic Response Unit, in Italiano Unità di Intervento Strategico, una squadra di elite ispirata alla Toronto Police Emergency Task Force.

Questa Unità, chiamata Team One, opera in situazioni particolarmente critiche, dove gli agenti di polizia non sono sufficientemente addestrati per intervenire, come nel caso di sequestri di persona, allarmi bomba, rapine con ostaggi ed uso di armi pesanti. Ogni membro dell'unità ha una propria specializzazione, ma tutti vengono addestrati anche alla negoziazione, con nozioni psicologiche e tattiche.

What is?
Flashpoint is a succesfull Canadian television series aired from 2008 on CTV (Canada) and CBS, then since autumn 2011 on Ion Tv (Usa). In Italy aired since 2009 on Axn, than Rai3 and Rai4 (2011).
The original script was created as a single movie titled 'Sniper' or 'Critical Incident', but than became a pilot episode of new police drama called 'Flashpoint'.
Located in Toronto, tells about the high-risk critical incidents faced by the Team One of SRU and the sacrifices, passions, vulnerability of all the members of the Unit.
SRU is a fictional Strategic Response Unit inspired by Toronto Police Emergency Task Force.
This SRU Team operates where regular officers are not trained to handle critical situation, with hostage, bomb, heavily armed criminals. They are well equipped with newest high-tech tools, weapons and explosives, members are trained in tactics, psychology and negotiation, they deal with extreme situations and each member has their own expertise.
